This guide will walk you through connecting your domain from a GoDaddy account to your WebDirect site.
Step 1 - Add your domain to WebDirect
To connect your domain to your website, you need to add the specific domain name to your WebDirect account. Your domain configuration can be managed on the ‘Domains’ page in the ‘Settings’ tab of WebDirect. In case you need help logging in to your WebDirect account, please refer to this article.
Once you are on the ‘Domains’ page in WebDirect. Click on "+Add domain"
Enter your domain www.yourdomain.com (be sure to include ‘www’) and click on ‘Add’. Save your changes by clicking on ‘Save’ in the lower right side of the page.
Step 2 - Set up your 301 redirects.
If you recently purchased your domain please proceed to Step 3 directly.
If you have an existing website under your personalised domain please follow these instructions and then proceed to step 3.
Step 3 - Log in to your HostEurope account
Go to kis.hosteurope.de and log in by filling in your Username/Customer number and password.
After filling in your credentials, click ‘Send’. You will then be automatically forwarded to your customer account.
Once you are logged in successfully, the ‘Home’ section will be displayed.
In the ‘Home’ section, click on ‘Product administration’.
In the ‘Product administration’ menu, you see the view below. In that view, click ‘Domain administration’.
Once you click on ‘Domain administration’, a drop-down menu will open. You will then see the ‘Edit nameservers/DNS settings’ option. Please click on ‘Edit nameservers/DNS settings’.
After clicking on ‘Edit nameservers/DNS settings’, you will find a page where you can find more information about different servers. Please scroll down to the section entitled ‘DNS settings’.
In the ‘DNS settings’ section, there will be an overview of all the DNS records connected to your domain.
Step 4 - Set up your CNAME record
In the list, you will find a section with the title ‘CNAME’ selected in the second column.
In the CNAME field, add the BookingSuite CNAME (suite-sites.booking.com). After, click on the ‘Update’ below.
When you click ‘Update’, the new settings are saved.
Step 5 - Set up your A record
Next, change the A record in the ‘DNS settings’ overview. This time, look for the field with ‘A’.
In that section, add the BookingSuite A record (220.127.116.11) in the field of the second column, then click ‘Update’ below.
As soon as you click ‘Update’, the new settings are saved. Note: Hosteurope indicates that the standard time for changes to be active is 1 day.
Step 6 – Setting your primary domain
The last step is to set your domain name as primary. If you have multiple domains added to your account, you will need to set only one of your domain names as primary. Your other domains will then be automatically redirected to your primary domain. Visitors who access your website will then always see this primary domain in their browser bar.
In order to set your primary domain, please follow these steps.
NOTE: You can only set your domain as primary if you made the necessary changes with your domain provider. If this has not been done, you will receive the error message: ‘This domain is not ready to be set as your primary. DNS records could take up to 4 hours to update – please try again later’.
