This article provides general guidance on how to connect your domain to WebDirect. In addition, there are specific step-by-step instructions available for the most common domain providers such as GoDaddy, 1&1, GoogleDomain and the CPanel System.
In order to set up your domain, please complete the following steps:
Step 1: Add your domain to WebDirect Once you are logged in to WebDirect, navigate to the ‘Domains’ page in the ‘Settings’ tab. Insert your domain by clicking on the yellow ‘+Add domain’ button. After your domain is listed, be sure to save your changes by clicking ‘Save’ on the lower right side. Here are more details on how to add and manage your domains in WebDirect.
Step 2: Set up your 301 redirects (If you recently purchased your domain, please go directly to step 3) A 301 redirect is a technique to make sure that your existing website address leads to your new website powered by BookingSuite. Please follow these instructions.
Step 3: Access your domain provider Visit your domain provider’s website and log in to your account. Once you are logged in, find the configuration section for your domains. In case you don’t know your provider, you can look it up via your domain – see article here.
Step 4: Set A record In the configuration section of your domain provider, look for the A record settings and change them to WebDirect’s IP Address 18.104.22.168 as the destination. In some cases, you will need to select the A record in a tick box or drop-down menu. The ‘@’ symbol is used as a symbol for A record. Be sure you save your changes.
Step 5: Set your CNAME record In the configuration section of your domain provider, look for the CNAME record in your settings. Change the ‘www’ CNAME, so it points to suite-sites.booking.com. Save your changes again.
Step 6: Set your domain as primary Once you have made all changes with your domain provider, go back to the WebDirect ‘Domains’ page in the ‘Settings’ tab. Set your domain as primary, then publish your website to be sure all changes are saved – see guidance here.
Please note: It can take up to 48 hours for your WebDirect website to be connected to your domain address. You can test this by typing your domain into your browser.
