The power of high quality photos
Updated

Photos are key to selling online. Location and price help guests to narrow down their search, but often it’s the photos that make or break their decision. A good selection of attractive, high-quality photos can often make the difference between a booking and the user simply clicking away to another property.

You don’t have to hire a professional photographer, either. Most modern smartphones are capable of taking very good photos.

Here are some tips that could help you convince people to book at your property:

  • High-resolution photos: no matter what type of camera you have, make sure you’re uploading high-quality pictures. We recommend that you use photos or around 1080 x 540 pixels, although WebDirect supports images between 300 x 300 pixels and 14000 x 14000 pixels, and between 100 KB and 20 MB.
  • Landscape (horizontal) photos: these prevent pictures from becoming blurry and unclear.
  • Lighting: It’s important that your rooms don’t appear too dark. Try taking pictures during the day, with the curtains open and the lights on.
  • Details: Is the room as tidy as possible? Does the bed have any wrinkles? Details make all the difference.

Remember, you do not need to be an expert to take high-quality photos, nor do you have to hire a professional photographer. You can do it!
